The Perennial Quote is a free collection of quotations. You can read and search it without an account. This page explains what the site keeps if you create one, and why.

What we keep

• Your account: the name and email address you give, and your password, which is stored only in a scrambled form that cannot be read back.
• What you add: the quotes you save, your folders, and any private quotes and notes you write. Private quotes are visible only to you.
• Signing in: while you are signed in, the site keeps a record of your session, including your IP address and browser type, to keep you signed in and protect your account.

Cookies and your device

The site uses cookies only to keep you signed in and to protect its forms. “Remember me” keeps you signed in for longer. There are no advertising or analytics cookies, and nothing tracks you across other sites.

Your colours, text size and light or dark choice are stored in your own browser and are never sent to us.

Who else handles it

• DreamHost hosts the site and its database, in the United States.
• Cloudflare delivers the site and protects it from abuse, so it sees each visitor’s IP address.
• Resend sends account emails, such as confirming your address or resetting your password.

We email you only about your account. We do not sell your information, share it with anyone else, or use it for advertising.

Keeping and deleting

Your account stays until you delete it. Under Account, Delete account removes your account, saved quotes, folders and private quotes straight away. Copies in the site’s backups are kept for a limited time before they too are gone.
